About

Sidney Westenskow is a multimedia artist born in the United States and a Masters of Fine Arts candidate at Goldsmiths University of London. She received her Bachelors in Fine Arts and Bachelors in German Language and Culture degrees from Washington State University in 2020. Westenskow’s work has been featured in galleries across the United States, including the Barret Art Center in New York, the Russel Exhibition Center in Michigan, and the Dallas Metro Arts Contemporary in Texas.

Her research explores ideas of identity and memory, reflecting on the ways one's personal experiences impact the way they see, feel, and interact with their present. She uses found materials and textiles to create colorful and autobiographical soft sculptures and installations in which the viewer is encouraged to play and interact with the artworks freely. She critiques traditional barriers set place in a formal fine arts setting by removing them entirely.
